Jack Slaughterbeck

It is with profound sadness that the family of Jack Edward Slaughterbeck announce his peaceful passing at home Saturday, October 8, 2022, at the age of 67 years.

Jack will be forever loved and missed by his wife, Debra Lynn (Prowant). He is also survived by his mother, Laura (Hostotle) Slaughterbeck of Marion, Ohio; daughter, Rachel Dawn Slaughterbeck-Kolks; and numerous loved ones, relatives, and friends.

Jack Slaughterbeck

Jack was preceded in death by his father, James “Jim” Slaughterbeck; brother, John “Bill” Slaughterbeck; and beloved grandparents.

Jack was born November 18, 1954, in Findlay, Ohio. He was then raised in Van Buren where many of his friends and family still reside. Jack worked many years at RCA, Cooper Tires, various construction companies, and managing his own construction crew.

Jack enjoyed his younger years riding his Harleys and spending time with lifelong friends.

Jack will always be remembered by his smile, contagious laugh, and creating good times with everyone he knew.

Jack and Debra purchased their dream property in 1998 on top of the mountains of Lewis County, also known as Daniel Boone National Forest.

Together over the last 24 years, they have built not only a house, but their forever home.

Jack spent many happy days working on his property. Farming was his joy. He was a master of all trades, from logging to carpentry and always helping others in need.

He enjoyed attending Trinity Baptist Church and Petersville Church of Christ on Sundays when he could.

Jack was always a fighter until last Saturday when our Lord decided to take him to his heavenly home.

Jack’s final earthly resting place, as he desired, will be on top of his cherished land in Kentucky.

A private ceremony of his closest friends and loved ones will take place around his birthday.

Jack will be forever missed and his legacy and memories will stay alive within us and in the mountains that he loved.

Our family is appreciative of all who have prayed for him during this time.
