Arthur “Art” Nelson Stafford, 86, of Camp Dix, passed away Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth, Ohio. He was surrounded by his loving family.
Art was born in Lewis County on November 26, 1936, a son of the late John and Bertha Opal Young Stafford.
He was a US Postal Mail Carrier for 32 years and a member of the Camp Dix Fire Department for 26 years, and attended Scotts Branch Church of Christ. Art loved UK Basketball, fishing and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his loving wife of 65 years, Janet Fay Ash Stafford; one daughter, Connie Lynna (Troy) Hughes of Camp Dix; two sons, David Arthur “Pudge” (Barb) Stafford of Camp Dix and Terry Martin (Kathy) Stafford of Winchester; one sister, Deloris Jean Wireman of Lima, Ohio; two brothers, Allan (Telle) Stafford of Linville, North Carolina, and Ed (Sharie) Stafford of Aberdeen, Ohio; six grandchildren, Laine, Adam, Jana, Megan, Terra, and Katie; and five great-grandchildren, Isaiah, Baley, Wyatt, Harper, and Keightley. Many other family members and friends also survive who will sadly miss him.
In addition to his parents, Art was preceded in death by two sisters, Berta Pesano and Carol Lynn Wood, and a daughter-in-law, Rebecca Stafford.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at Globe Family Funeral Chapel, 7975 Lower Kinney Road at Camp Dix, with Bro. David Prater officiating.
Friends may visit from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at Globe Family Funeral Chapel at Camp Dix.
Pallbearers will be Laine Hughes, Adam Stafford, Troy Hughes, Donovan Pigg, Austin Cooper, Richard Evans, and Marty Strong.
Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Hatfield, Jenson Cropper, Isaiah Hughes, Wyatt Pigg, and Brian Pence.
