Lovell “Jingles” Polley, 81, of Concord, passed away Friday, January 31, 2020, at the Care Center at Kenton Pointe in Maysville.
He was born on October 22, 1938, in Lewis County, a son of the late Otto and Oleta Howell Polley.
Jingles was a member and deacon of Concord Christian Church. He was a self-employed excavator, dozer operator, and truck driver, spreading lime to the many farmers in the surrounding counties. He had also worked as a construction foreman. Jingles enjoyed going to church, woodworking, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He had a special bond with his dog, Sugar that he rescued from the pound.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, William Thomas Polley.
Jingles is survived by his wife of 59 years, Lynda Carver Polley; two daughters, Dina Applegate (Cliff) of Tollesboro, and Sue Ellen Gorman (Jeff) of Concord; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Mary Highfield of Vanceburg, Phyllis Hampton (Charles) of Tollesboro, and Susie Hardeman of Maysville. He also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss him.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 3, 2020, at Dickerson Funeral Home in Vanceburg with Bro. Larry Tucker and Bro. Charles Hampton officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Garden of Memories in Mason County.
Friends may visit from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Sunday, February 2, 2020, and after 9:00 a.m. Monday at Dickerson Funeral Home, 110 West Second Street in Vanceburg.
Pallbearers will be Ryan Kennedy, Harold Applegate, Ashley Applegate, Austin Gorman, Cliff Applegate and Jeff Gorman. Junior Walker, Shane Hampton, Jerry Walker, Joshua Hardeman, James Carver, Terry Highfield and Carey Highfield will serve as honorary pallbearers.
