Jerry Dewayne Ruckel, 71, of Vanceburg, passed away Wednesday, June 2, 2021, in Greenup County.
He was born August 26, 1949, in Lewis County, a son of the late Walter and Cophiene Bloomfield Ruckel.
Jerry was a member and board member of Blankenship Christian Holiness Church and was retired from CSX Railroad and Raceland Car Shops. He loved going to church, the NRA, hunting, fishing, sports, anything involving his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 53 years, Donna Caldwell Ruckel; three sons, Kenneth Ruckel (Faith) and Jeremy Ruckel (Beth) of Vanceburg, and Todd Ruckel of Frankfort; one daughter, Jeri Dawn Haney (Brent) of Inez; 11 grandchildren; and four-great grandchildren. He also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Sandy Ruckel; one great-granddaughter, Raelynn Kegley; one brother, Darrell Ruckel; and two sisters, Annette Ruckel and Debbie Lewis.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 7, 2021, at Dickerson Funeral Home in Vanceburg with Bro. Brent Haney and Bro. Chris Lawhun officiating. Burial will follow in Soldier Cemetery at Garrison.
Friends may visit from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Sunday, June 6, 2021, and after 9:00 a.m. Monday at Dickerson Funeral Home, 110 West Second Street in Vanceburg.
Pallbearers will be Kenny Kegley, Adam Hampton, Brett Ruckel, Cameron Ruckel, Andrew Haney, and Jerrod Haney. Greg Ruckel will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
