Wanda Mae Barker Rister, 74, of South Shore, passed away Sunday, August 15, 2021, at Southern Ohio Medical Center Hospice in Portsmouth, Ohio.
She was born June 17, 1947, in Greenup County, a daughter of the late Henry and Stella Herford Barker.
Wanda was of the Pentecostal faith and a lifelong member of Lloyd Ridge Pentecostal Church. She was a homemaker who loved gardening, yard work, raising chickens, and spending time with all her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include six sons, Earnest Dale Rister (Jessica) of Greenup, Timmy Rister (Amy) of Greenup, Arnold Rister of Tollesboro, Chris Rister (Norma) of South Shore, Scottie Rister (Mary) of Greenup, and Kevin Rister of Greenup; and one brother, Robert Barker of Norwalk, Ohio. She also leaves behind many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, along with a host of family and friends who will sadly mourn her passing.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Earnest Rister; one grandchild, Gabriel Rister; one brother, Paul Barker; and three sisters, Stella “Bim” Baldridge, Lucy Barker, and Kathy Meeks.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 19, 2021, at Lloyd Ridge Pentecostal Church with Bro. Anthony Rister officiating. Burial will follow in Dummitt Cemetery on Dummitt Ridge.
Friends may visit after 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 18, 2021, and after 9:00 a.m. Thursday at the church.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
