Betty Irene Streng, 92, of Vanceburg, passed away at her home Thursday morning, January 21, 2016, after an extended illness.
Betty was born in Parkersburg, West Virginia, August 17, 1923, a daughter of the late Delbert and Ella Ward Whitehead. Betty was a homemaker and had worked in the restaurant at Lazarus in Columbus, Ohio. She loved to play Bingo and was quite the bowler in her earlier years having achieved a couple of perfect games. She was of the Presbyterian faith.
Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Sharon Jenkins of Vanceburg; two granddaughters, Lisa Hahn and Shelly Jenkins; one grandson, Joey Jenkins; two great-granddaughters, Rachael Hahn and Amanda Marrero; two great-grandsons, Ricky Hahn and Nathan Hayman; and three great-great-grandchildren, Jaxon Hahn, Jayden Hahn and Zoe Jenkins.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband Ralph Jenkins; two sons, Thomas and Ellis Jenkins; one sister, Dorothy Perry; one brother, Nelson Whitehead: and a grandson, TJ Jenkins.
At Betty’s request there were no services or visitation.
Arrangements were under the direction of Gaydos Funeral Home in Vanceburg.
