Geraldine Fields

Geraldine Logan Fields, 86, of Emerson, went home to be with our Lord on February 23, 2023, at Vanceburg Rehabilitation and Care following a brief illness.

She was born Sunday, February 14, 1937, in Lewis County, the youngest daughter of the late James Logan and the late Pearl Edington Logan of Laurel Creek.

She spent most of her adult life in Lewisville, Indiana, where she, along with her husband Jack raised her four children. During Geraldine’s career she was a seamstress, a short order cook (famous for her fried chicken), a leasing manager for a large property management company, she managed an answering service and a gas station, and owned with Regina Stone, her niece and lifelong friend, a catering business. After retiring, she moved back to Kentucky to be near her family and the old home place. Geraldine enjoyed spending time volunteering for county events, participated with the 4-H Club and was an active member of the Lewis County Extension Homemakers, where she held various positions over the years including Secretary and President. For a number of years she was not only a Lewis County Fair judge but also a participant in the arts, crafts, and food categories.

Geraldine loved her church family and was a member of 1068 Independence Church of Christ for many years. She loved to travel and the highlight of her travels was going to the Holy Land with Regina where she was baptized in the Jordan River.

Geraldine is survived by daughters, Melinda (William) Schiller and Tajuana (James Sedlachek) Fields, both of Austin, Texas, and Jennifer (Benjamin Griffith) Groves of Huntington Beach, California; son, Timothy (Deborah) Fields of Richmond, Indiana; grandsons, Lukus Fields and Logan Fields; granddaughters, Galyn Groves and Trianna Schiller; great-grandson, Grady Fields; one sibling, Paul (Edna) Logan of Laurel Creek; and many loving nieces, nephews and other family members.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Claude Logan, Homer Logan, Carl Logan, Mary Gilmer, Zelma Hamilton, Genyth Solem, and Noah Logan.

Friends may visit from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 1, 2023, at Globe Family Funeral Chapel, 7975 Lower Kinney Road, Vanceburg.

A memorial service will begin at 6:00 p.m. with Bro. Arthur Moore officiating.

In place of flowers, please consider a donation in memory of Mrs. Geraldine Logan Fields to the American Kidney Fund at www.kidneynation.org.

Globe Family Funeral Chapel in Camp Dix is caring for all arrangements.
