Thelma “Peanut” Marie Sapp Gulley, 96, of Flemingsburg, passed away Friday, April 7, 2023, at Meadowview Regional Medical Center in Maysville.

She was born June 24, 1926, in Lewis County, a daughter of the late Hanson Sapp and Mary “Maggie” Magdelyn Stacy Sapp.

Thelma worked many years as a nurse’s aide at Fleming County Hospital and Pioneer Trace Nursing Home. She enjoyed working in flowers, watching the birds, reading, journaling, and scrapbooking. She was a wonderful cook and avid UK fan, Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a member of Poplar Plains Christian Church.

Survivors include two sons, Gary Kidwell (Alice) of Vanceburg and Barry Gulley (Cindy) of Douglasville, Georgia; two daughters, Ginger Miller (Gary) and Tonia Berry (Charles “Chick”) of Flemingsburg; one brother, Kenneth Sapp of Mason County; one sister Ramona Brooks Sexton of Portsmouth Ohio; 10 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Several nieces, nephews and other family members and friends also survive who will mourn her passing.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Willard Gulley; one stepson, David Gulley; two brothers, Warren Sapp and Buford Cooper; and two sisters, Wanda Evans and Bonnie Stacy.

Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 14, 2023, in the chapel of Michael R. Gray Funeral Home, 405 South Main Cross Street in Flemingsburg, with Pastor Shawn Meade officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park.

Visitation will be after Noon Friday at the funeral home.

Casket bearers will be her grandchildren.
