Mitch Roe

Robert Mitchell “Mitch” Roe, 73, of Emerson, went home to be with the Lord Friday morning, November 10, 2023. He was born July 5, 1950, in Lewis County, a son of the late Malcolm and Mary June Roe.

Mitch was a faithful Christian for 30 years. He was retired from CSX Railroad, was a US Navy Veteran, and a lifelong farmer. He loved going to church, hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Shirley Nolan Roe; seven children, Terry (Lori) Roe, Lori Jenkins, Elizabeth (Rex) Kuriger, Sarah Roe, Rhonda (Rick) Lewis, Tony (Sandy) Nolan, and Rebecca (Bill) Wilson; one sister, Mary “Eenie” Roe; one brother, John (Karen) Roe; a sister-in-law, Jo Roe; 18 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind many other family members, church family, and friends who will sadly miss him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Amanda Roe Lang; and one brother, Malcolm Wayne Roe.

Services will be at Noon Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at Duvall and Moore Funeral Home at Olive Hill with Bro. Jason Johnson and Bro. Clyde Holbrook officiating. Burial will follow in Stevens Cemetery with military honors accorded.

Pallbearers will be JB Carter, Jack Pennington, Bart Blackburn, Rick Lewis, Bill Wilson, and Tyler McGlone.

Honorary pallbearers will be John Roe and Mitch Stevens.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday, November 13, 2023, and after 9:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at Duvall and Moore Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 149 Whitt Street at Olive Hill.
