Lawrence “Larry” Allen Martin Sr., 71, of Maysville, passed away peacefully in his home on December 3, 2023.
He was born June 6, 1952, a son of the late Dixie (Clyde) Goodwin. Larry was a long-time dirt track racer, car owner, and supporter. When not supervising in the garage he could be found enjoying time with family and friends golfing, fishing, or playing cards.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Ellena Sue Martin; two children, Lisa (Mike) Mack and Larry (Kathy) Martin Jr. of Maysville; two brothers, Rusty (Jo) Martin and Randy Martin; his sisters, Debbie Duzan, Sarah (Martin) Meadows, Diana Logan, Linda Clayborn, Sandy Muir, Lorreta Martin, and Martha Ritchie; and many step-siblings, nieces, and nephews.
He will be greatly missed by seven grandchildren, Amber (Justin) Martin-May, Jeffrey (Ashton) Martin, Bradley Martin, Hannah (Aaron) Deacon, Ashley (Chris) Waters, Aaron (Mary Beth) Mack, and Cody Martin; and 10 great-grandchildren, Isacc Martin, Natalee May, Davina Martin, McKenzie Deacon, Riley Martin, Addy Waters, Harper Martin, Morgan Martin, Camryn Waters, Logan Mack.
Larry was preceded in death by his brothers, David Hostetler Sr., Mike, George, and Tommy Martin, and one sister, Tina.
Larry will always be in the thoughts of many special friends, Philip Lee, Greg “Smitty” Schmidt, Mark and Bree Blevins, as well as countless others.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 9, 2023, at Tollesboro Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 11918 KY 57 at Tollesboro, with Bro. Billy Kilgore officiating. Burial will follow in Olivet Cemetery.
Friends may visit after 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 9, 2023, at Tollesboro Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Jeffrey Martin, Bradley Martin, Cody Martin, Aaron Mack, Chris Water, and Justin Rawlings.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Mark Blevins, Shawn Martin, David Hostetler Jr., and Martin Meadows
In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
