Waylon Dwayne Plank of Tollesboro peacefully passed on July 30, 2024, after a long battle with heart transplant complications .
Waylon was born July 26, 1997, a son of Timothy Plank and Angela Mosley Plank.
Surviving are his paternal grandparents, John (Janie) Lewis of Garrison; two daughters Stormi Rena and Paislee Hope; his father, Timothy Plank of Tollesboro; his mother, Angie Mosley of Garrison; one brother, Austin (Briana) Plank of Garrison; three sisters, Laken (Dalton) of Tollesboro and Kylie Plank and Mariah Plank of Tollesboro; two nephews, Kashus and Wesson Plank; one niece, Ensley Tully; his godparents, Brandi (Matthew) Stone of Lexington; and his aunts and uncles, Becky (Philip) Valentine of Campton, Stephanie (Kenneth) of Garrison, Michelle Roe of Portsmouth, Ohio, LaNora (Mike) Click of Sandy Hook, Emily (Tony) Flinders of Garrison, Roger (Lashanda) of Garrison, and Josh (Miranda) Lewis of Vanceburg. Many, many cousins, all his friends, and his buddies also survive who will mourn his passing.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Roger and Roxanne Davis Mosley.
Waylon was out of the brotherhood Local Union 181 and just started as an Operator when he had gotten real sick. Waylon took pride in working and doing what he loved.
Waylon’s journey is a long one. Waylon inherited heart disease which came to light when he was 18 years old. Waylon wasn’t left with many options, an LVAD and in hopes to get a heart transplant down the road. Waylon would say, “Give me a couple more years.” His adult life was spent in and out of the hospital fighting heart complications. He received an LVAD and with that, had its own issues. He continued to say, “Give me a couple more years.” Waylon went on to have the LVAD for six years before he got the CALL. He received the Gift of Life. With this Gift of Life we were granted three more years with Waylon.
Waylon’s girls were his life. That’s all he talked about and wanted to make sure they knew that Daddy loves them. Waylon took pride in becoming an uncle and did a great job at teaching Kash, Wesson, and Ensley how to be tough and ornery. They called him Uncle Way Way.
Waylon was a good ole boy from deep in the country that enjoyed fishing with his buddies, driving his truck down a back road listening to his favorite country songs, to burnouts and spending time with his family. When you start to think of Bub, remember he’s gone fishin’.
Services will be at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 6, 2024, at Globe Family Funeral Chapel, 103 Dudley Avenue at Garrison, with Bro. Brad Stone officiating.
