Dorena Agnes Neal, 90, passed away Sunday, October 13, 2024, at Tomball Nursing and Rehab Center in Tomball, Texas, and is now with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Dorena was born in Lewis County on April 22, 1934, a daughter of late Oscar H. and Bertie Marie Clark Harris of Vanceburg. She was preceded in death by all three of her siblings, Marvin “Windy” Harris, James Warner Harris, and her twin sister, Darlena Landreth.
Left to cherish Dorena’s memories are a daughter, Shirley Lynn Neal of Lansing, Michigan; and three sons, Glenn (Donna) Neal of Conroe, Texas, Thomas (Jackie) Neal of Miami, Florida, and Mickey Neal of Chillicothe, Ohio.
She was a grandmother of nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, and an aunt to Cathy, Randy, Julie, Brian, and Brent. She also leaves behind her late brothers’ wives, Betty Harris and Ruby Harris. She was a mother and grandmother figure to Kathi Cassity and Brent Priour. Brent, who was placed by God to be Dorena’s friend, voice, and watcher in her last days, was a true blessing. Her family thanks you sincerely.
She retired from Scioto Memorial Hospital after 25 years of service. Dorena was a devout Christian, helping in the Church of Christ, and was a staunch supporter of Mike and Linda Briedenbaugh of Open Your Heart Ministries. She will be in the hearts and minds of all those who knew her.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 19, 2024, at Gaydos Funeral Home, 159 Second Street in Vanceburg, with Bro. Timothy Cassidy officiating. Burial will follow in Lewis County Memory Gardens at Black Oak.
Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, October 18, 2024, at Gaydos Funeral Home.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
