Connie Smith

Connie Sue Carrington Polley Smith, 75, of Vanceburg, passed away Saturday, November 9, 2024, at her home.

She was born in Lewis County on May 22, 1949, a daughter of the late Harvey and Ruby Frances Corns Carrington.

Connie was a Christian and homemaker. She was a member of the DAR, Daughter of the Confederacy, former member of the Lewis County Historical Society, Kentucky Colonel, and member of Paralyzed Veterans of America. Connie enjoyed working in her flowers, sewing, quilting, genealogy, canning, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include three daughters, Francesa (Daryl) Switzer and Jessica (Gary) Toller of Vanceburg, and Heavenly Smith of Charters; five sons, Edward Smith of Ribolt, Vincent Smith of Vanceburg, and Terry Polley, Troy Smith, and Ashton Smith of Charters; 21 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren. Many other family members and friends also survive who will sadly miss her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Harlen Lowell Polley Jr. and James Edward Smith; two children, Heather Smith and Jimmy Smith; one sister, Loretta Hamlin; and four brothers, Mitchell Ray Carrington, Leon Carrington, Glendale Lee Carrington, and Edward Allen Carrington.

Services will be at Noon Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at Dickerson Funeral Home, 110 West Second Street in Vanceburg, with Bro. Tony Corns officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery at Ribolt.

Friends may visit after 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at Dickerson Funeral Home.

Connie’s grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
