Deanna Rice Butler, 63, of Flemingsburg, departed this life Saturday, December 14, 2024, at her home. She was surrounded by her family.
She was born at Morehead on August 13, 1961, a daughter of the late Joseph Byron Rice and Doris Louise Dean Rice.
Deanna was a professor of medical assisting at Maysville Community and Technical College for 22 years. She also worked at Cave Run Clinic in Morehead for 21 years. She was a 1979 graduate of Rowan County High School and a 1981 graduate of Morehead State University.
Deanna enjoyed spending her time with family, especially her precious grandchildren.
She leaves her loving family behind, including two daughters, Mallory Vice (Tyler) of Foxport and Megan Riggs (Clinton) of Carlisle; two cousins, who were like her brother and sister, Fred Hogan of Nitro, West Virginia, and Vicki Hogan of Oak Island, North Carolina; an aunt, Lois Bowen of Poca, West Virginia; and six grandchildren. Several other relatives, friends, students, and colleagues also survive who will mourn her passing.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Brandon Butler, who passed away September 13, 2023.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 20, 2024, in the chapel of Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Flemingsburg with Pastor Lloyd Dean officiating.
Visitation will be after 11:00 a.m. Friday at Michael R. Gray Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the funeral home to help with expenses.
