Ruth Cooper Stone, 85, of Vanceburg passed away Friday, January 31, 2025, at Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth, Ohio. She was surrounded by her loving family.
She was born October 19, 1939, in Carter County, a daughter of the late Walter Green Wade and Martha Holbrook Cooper.
Ruth was of the Christian faith and attended Saylor Branch and Nolen Churches, when she was able. She may have only had one child but she helped care for many other children in the community. She worked at US Shoe and was a farmer’s wife. She enjoyed talking on the phone with friends and family, camping, and sitting on her front porch.
Survivors include a daughter, Katrina Dunaway of Vanceburg; one sister, Phyllis (Forrest) Wilburn of Mansfield, Ohio; three brothers, Charles (Evelena) Cooper of Holland, Michigan, Donald (Patty) Cooper of Jackson, Tennessee, and Junior (Brenda) Cooper of Olive Hill; two grandchildren, Colton (Chelsea) Dunaway and Cortney (Sam) Burriss; and four great-grandchildren, Chase Dunaway, Chole Dunaway, Willow Burriss, and Tinsley Burriss. Many other family members and friends also survive who will sadly miss her.
In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 years, Delmas Stone; one sister, Betty Bradley; two brothers, Wade Cooper and Glen Cooper; and one great-grandson, Mason Kaden Burriss.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at Globe Family Funeral Chapel, 7975 Lower Kinney Road at Camp Dix, with Bro. Ronnie Enix and Bro. Daniel Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Stone Cemetery on Scotts Branch.
Friends may visit from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 4, 2025, and after 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at Globe Family Funeral Chapel at Camp Dix.
