Harold “Elmo” Veach, 86, of Quincy, passed away Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at Southern Ohio Medical Center Hospice Center in Portsmouth, Ohio.
He was born February 17, 1939, in Greenup County, a son of the late Paul and Ruth Blizzard Veach.
Elmo was a devoted member of Quincy Church of Christ and a very active member at Sugarloaf Church Camp at Wallingford. He was a Kentucky Colonel, a Mason and of the Scottish Rite, Rotary Club member and was a notary public. He owned stores in Vanceburg, Oak Hill, Ripley, Greenfield, Hillsboro and Owingsville, with his preceding partners, Dwight and Susan King. He owned the mall in Vanceburg and worked at Wilcar for 30 years.
Elmo is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Pauline Conley Veach; one daughter, Kim (Walter) Taylor of Quincy; two sons, Harold Elmo Veach Jr. of Quincy and Kevin (Belinda) Veach of Nicholasville; one sister, Donna (Cook) Farmer of Highland Heights; four grandchildren, Lashawna (Gary) Wright, Jeremy Taylor, Keisha Taylor, and Josie Elder; six great-grandchildren, Colin Wright, Jace Howell, Jru Taylor, Jaxon Taylor, Liam Wright, and Jorjah Taylor; and his caregivers, Everett Kamer and Sherry Rickett. Many other family members and friends also survive who will sadly miss him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Ron Veach and Kenneth Veach.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 19, 2025, at Globe Family Funeral Chapel, 103 Dudley Avenue at Garrison, with Bro. Steve Sammons and Bro. Danny Bentley officiating. Burial will follow in Collier Memorial Gardens in Greenup County.
