Lorene Vanderpool King, 77, of Tollesboro, passed away Monday, May 26, 2025, at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.
She was born December 31, 1948, at Gunlock, a daughter of the late Lonzo Vanderpool and Ethel Shepherd.
Lorene was a member of Petersville Church of God and loved singing in church. She enjoyed watching UK Basketball and Jeopardy! on TV, reading, traveling, and spending time with her family and church family.
Survivors include her loving husband of 54 years, Danny Lee King; one daughter, Lori (Ryan) Kissell of Maysville; one son, Jeremy (Amanda) King of Maysville; two sisters, Connie Handshoe and Virginia Prater of Hueysville; two brothers, Banner Vanderpool of Hippo and Milton Vanderpool; four grandchildren, Daniel (Lou) Kisell, Cody Kissell, Jamie King, and Jacob King; and a great-grandson, Korvo Kissell. Many other family members and friends also survive who will sadly miss her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Oma Sparkman, and two brothers, Claude Vanderpool and Marvin Vanderpool.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at Petersville Church of God with Bro. Milt Stanfield officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Garden of Memories in Mason County.
Friends may visit from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at Tollesboro Funeral Home and after 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at Petersville Church of God.
Pallbearers will be Jeremy King, Ryan Kissell, Daniel Kissell, Cody Kissell, Brian Sparkman, and Mike Edington.
In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to Petersville Church of God Widow’s Fund.
