Cova Christine Madden Erwin, 84, of Garrison, went to be with her Lord and Savior Monday, July 7, 2025, following an extended illness. Her family was at her side.
She was born in Lewis County on February 9, 1941, a daughter of the late Joe and Vina Wright Madden.
Christine was a homemaker and member of the Little Country Church. She loved the Lord and cherished her family.
Survivors include a daughter, Janie (Rob) Skeans of Quincy; a son, Jamie Erwin of Garrison; three sisters, Berta Madden of Garrison, Margaret Rhoden of Greenup, and Marcella (Marshall) Rhoden of Greenup; and a brother-in-law, David Rhoden of Garrison.
She also leaves many nieces and nephews she always loved and enjoyed watching grow up; along with two little boys she thought of as her own, Everett and Emmett Thurman, and their parents, Dalton and Shelby of Quincy.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dorse Erwin, in 2004; four sisters, Martha Jane Layher, Belva Felty, Patty Rhoden, and Margie Virginia Madden (in infancy); and three brothers, Luther, Andrew, and Elwood Madden.
Services will be at Noon Friday, July 11, 2025, at Gaydos Funeral Home, 159 Second Street in Vanceburg, with Bro. Joe Madden officiating. Burial will follow in Skidmore Cemetery at Garrison.
Visitation will be after 10:00 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
