Don Gilliam Sr. passed away peacefully Saturday, September 27, 2025.
He was born on April 20, 1953, a son of the late Roy and Ardath Gilliam. Don was a graduate of Lewis County High School, a self-employed truck driver, and telecommunications worker, traveling around the United States before retiring.
Don enjoyed spending time with family and friends, laughing, and joking. He enjoyed watching old westerns, machine shows, and an occasional walk on the beach.
He is survived by two children, Lena Rummelt (Brent) of San Antonio, Florida and Don “Skip” Gilliam Jr. (Jennifer) of Beaufort, South Carolina; his siblings, Wanda Hardeman, Sue Sutherland, Helen Gilliam, Kenny Gilliam, Bob Gilliam (Julia), and Bunny Miller; three grandchildren, Trever Robinson, Hailie Gilliam (Sam), and Caroline Gilliam; and his special lady, Teresa Goodwin. Many nieces, nephews and friends will also mourn his passing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Arron Owens; a nephew, Billy Hardeman; and 13 siblings, Carl, Geneva, Matt, Dean, Audrey, Ollie, Ran, Earl, Lillian, Gary, Wayne, Harold, and Norma.
He will be missed by all who knew him.
Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday October 18, 2025, in Smith-Gilliam Cemetery at Laurel.
