Danny Joe Blankenship, 74, of Vanceburg, passed away Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth, Ohio. He was surrounded by his loving family.
Danny was born at Petersville on January 22, 1951, a son of the late Bruce and Lorene “Polly” Stacy Blankenship. Danny was a member of Hilltop Tabernacle Church. He worked for the Department of Human Resources from 1978 to 1982. In July 1979, he became owner/operator of Crawford’s Florist. Danny was instrumental in implementing gospel music on WKKS Radio on Wednesday and Sunday nights in 1989. He loved attending church and spending time with his church family.
Most of all, he loved his children, family, and church family. Danny was a “Dad” to many other children as well.
Those left to cherish his memories are his wife of 25, years Teresa Killen Blankenship; two daughters, Sierra Blankenship and Elizabeth Blankenship of Vanceburg; three sons, Josef Dylan Blankenship and his fiancée Sydney O’Keefe, Jacob Blankenship, and Clayton Blankenship of Vanceburg; a sister, Julia (Walter) Butler of Camp Dix; and a brother, Bruce “Shorty” Blankenship of Vanceburg.
Several nieces, nephews, and many other family members also survive who will mourn his passing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, David “Crockett” Blankenship, and mother-in-law, Pauline Killen.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 22, 2025, at Gaydos Funeral Home, 159 Second Street in Vanceburg, with Rev. Wilma Erwin, Bro. Homer Nolen, and Bro. Justin Dodson officiating. Burial will follow in Lewis County Memory Gardens at Black Oak.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Sunday, December 21, 2025, and after 9:00 a.m. Monday at Gaydos Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Walter Butler, Kenny Christy, Eugene Osborne, Jerry Wilburn, Robert Thurman, Dennis Brown, and Tony Gaydos.
