Valerya Lynn Hyrne, 67, of Independence, passed away unexpectedly at her home on December 26, 2025.
Born October 24, 1958, in Cincinnati, Ohio, she was a daughter of Juanita Thoroughman Hyrne and the late David Leon Hyrne.
Valerya retired from the US Forest Service, where she served as a Support Services Supervisor. Following her retirement, she worked part-time as a sales associate at Lowe’s in Florence.
She was a member of the Northern Kentucky Master Gardener Association and previously served as President of the Northeast Tennessee Master Gardener Association. She was a member of the Northern Kentucky Community Chorus and Lakeside Presbyterian Church. Musically inclined, Valerya shared her instrumental and vocal talents with those around her.
Valerya was a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University, having earned a degree in Wildlife Management. She later earned a Master’s degree in Secondary Education from Northern Kentucky University.
Survivors include her mother, Juanita Hyrne of Independence; an aunt, Dianne Hill of Tollesboro; and an uncle, James Thoroughman of Ft. Mitchell. She also leaves behind many other family members and friends who will miss her.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 10, 2026, at Mount Tabor Community Church in Ribolt with Bro. Sam Jones officiating. Visitation will be after 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the church.
