Deborah Yazell Martin, 73, of Sharpsburg, passed away Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at Fountain Circle Care and Rehabilitation Center in Winchester. She was surrounded by her loving family.
Deborah was born in Lewis County on July 11, 1952, a daughter of the late Joseph and Bertha Faye Penrod Yazell.
She was a loving, generous woman whose heart was always open to anyone in need. An amazing mother and grandmother, she loved her family fiercely and poured herself into caring for those she held dear. She was a loyal and devoted friend to many, the kind of person you could always count on, no matter the circumstance.
To those who knew her best, she was truly magical — she had a way of making whatever was needed appear out of thin air. She could create a warm meal when the pantry looked empty, turn a simple cardboard box into pure joy for children, and somehow provide what was needed even when money was nonexistent. She found joy in life’s simple pleasures — dancing, singing, and playing pool — and brought laughter and warmth wherever she went. Well known for her green thumb, she took great pride in her beautiful flowers, which reflected her nurturing spirit and the beauty she cultivated in the lives of everyone around her. Her kindness, strength, and love will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Deborah is survived by a daughter, Alisha Clemons of Lexington; a son, Shannon (Teresa) Himes of Flemingsburg; two brothers, Phillip Fetters of Sharpsburg and Jason Sloop of Alabama; and three grandchildren, Kaleb Clemons, Brayden Clemons, and Kayleah Dunaway. Many other family members and friends also survive who will sadly miss her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 36 years, Roy Martin; a son, Jason Shane Himes; and a brother, Erlen Yazell.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at Tollesboro Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 11918 KY 57 at Tollesboro, with Bro. Jerry Blevins officiating. Burial will follow in McClurg Cemetery at Concord.
Friends may visit after 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at Tollesboro Funeral Home.
