Donna Sue Henderson Dunaway, 80, of Vanceburg, passed away Monday, February 16, 2026, at her home. She was surrounded by her loving family.
Sue was born in Lewis County on March 25, 1945, a daughter of the late Albert Leroy and Anna Fay Burton Henderson.
She was a member of Vanceburg First Baptist Church, where she loved attending services. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, whom she adored. Her most cherished title was Mim. She taught Kindergarten for 27 years at Lewis County Central Elementary. She instilled a love of learning and compassion in the hundreds of students who entered her classroom over these many years.
Survivors include three children, Denise Dunaway of Vanceburg, Kelly (Tammy) Alburg of Mayslick, and Chris (Deah) Dunaway of Maysville; one sister, Fonda Esham of Vanceburg; one brother, Jack (Debbie) Henderson of Nevada; seven grandchildren, Bo (Tiffany), Liz (Dustin), Tyler, Kelsey (Matt), Noah (Allison), Tanner, and Grant; and seven great-grandchildren, Layla, Amry, Abram, Emmy, Indy, Claire, and Mattie. Many other family members and friends also survive and will sadly miss her.
Graveside services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 21, 2026, in Lewis County Memory Gardens at Black Oak with Dr. Howard Wilson and Bro. Kevin Cornette officiating.
Pallbearers will be Tyler Leming, Noah Dunaway, Grant Dunaway, Tanner Alburg, Dustin Czirr, and Troy Leming.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bo Markins, Abram Markins, and Danny Hronek.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Hospice of Hope, 909 Kenton Station Drive, Maysville, KY 41056, and Vanceburg First Baptist Church, 136 Market Street, Vanceburg, KY 41179.
