Milton Ray “Milt” Stanfield, 81, of Tollesboro, passed away Wednesday, April 1, 2026, surrounded by family.
Born May 10, 1944, in Lewis County, Milt was a man of deep faith in Christ whose life was defined by service, hard work, and a wholehearted love for his family and community.
For 22 years, he faithfully served as Pastor of Petersville Church of God, and he ministered in song with The Singing Stanfields. Milt devoted decades to public service, serving as a Lewis County magistrate for 21 years and as an interim Judge Executive. He was a small-business owner of a landscaping company, a trucking company for 30 years, and a barbershop for 40 years. He found joy raising beef cattle and riding motorcycles. His strong work ethic, servant’s heart, and steady faith touched many lives.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Phyllis Stanfield; sons David (Anne) Stanfield, parents of daughters Fayeth and Madison; Troy (Robin) Stanfield, parents of Jared and Laura Beth; and daughter Gina (Alex) Karwatka, parents of Joasia, Pierce, Cela and Emory; great-granddaughter Ava Jean Applegate (daughter of Fayeth); and sisters Phyllis Garrison and Joyce Summerfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Worth and Rena Stanfield, and siblings Worth Stanfield Jr., Ruth Hurst, Linda O’Dell, and Connie Denton.
Milt’s lasting legacy is his faithful witness to Christ, his loving devotion to family, and his lifelong commitment to serving others.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 4, 2026, at Petersville Church of God, 12688 KY 344 at Petersville, with Bro. Jared Stanfield officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Garden of Memories in Mason County.
Friends may visit after 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 4, 2026, at Petersville Church of God.
Pallbearers will be Ed Smith, John Gallenstein, BJ Applegate, PJ Price, Pierce Karwatka, and Ashton Applegate.
Frank Stanfield will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
