Roy Lawson, 96, of Vanceburg, passed away Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at Vanceburg Hills Rehabilitation Center in Vanceburg.
He was born May 10, 1930, in Portsmouth, Ohio, a son of the late Edward and Gladys Iery Lawson.
Roy is survived by one daughter, Faith (Shane) Hull of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; one sister, Kathleen Pence of Grove City, Ohio; three grandchildren, Julian Blake Hull, Sarah Hull, Lauren McEldowney, along with many other family and friends who will sadly miss him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Johnson Lawson; one daughter, Stacey McEldowney and a brother, George Lawson.
Roy was a member of Bivens Chapel. He served several terms on Vanceburg City Council, and was a former Vanceburg City Police chief. He loved the outdoors, gardening, fishing, hunting, and was always ready to help anyone in need.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 22, 2026, at Dickerson Funeral Home, 110 West Second Street, Vanceburg, with Sister Wilma Erwin officiating. Burial will follow in Lewis County Memory Gardens.
Friends may visit after 9:30 a.m., Monday, June 22, 2026, until the hour of service at the funeral home.
