Jerry Thomas Sparks III, 36, of Vanceburg, passed away Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at his home.
Jerry was born in Portsmouth, Ohio, on November 23, 1989, a son of Deborah Boyce Rhinehardt and the late Jerry Thomas Sparks Jr.
He was a carpenter by trade and a member of Ashland Carpenters Union Local 472. He had worked at Superior Fibers in Vanceburg for the past 12 years.
Jerry never met a stranger and welcomed everyone with a warm smile and one of his trademark corny jokes. He loved spending time outdoors, whether hunting, riding side-by-sides, horseback riding, or grilling with family while enjoying his music turned up loud. Above all, he cherished spending time with his family and loved ones. No matter the situation, he was always just a phone call away and could always be counted on to help. His greatest pride and joy were his children, and he never missed an opportunity to brag about them.
Left to cherish Jerry’s memories are his mother, Deborah Boyce (Ronald) Rhinehardt of Ohio; three daughters, Letty Sparks, Saylor Sparks, and Asa-Belle Sparks of Garrison; a son, Wyatt Sparks of Tollesboro; his paternal grandparents, Jerry and Betty Sparks of Vanceburg; six sisters, Alisha Montgomery, Adryanna Cottingham, Tiffani Sparks, Gabrielle (Corey) Swearingen, Cheyenne Sparks, and Rosa Sparks of Vanceburg; two brothers, Robert Henline of Ohio and Travis Sparks of Vanceburg; an aunt, Theresa Carrillo of Vanceburg; nieces, Kyleea Lyon, Ainsley Kelley, Jaihanna Sharp, Anaiyah Kelley, Ariah Mills, Zaniyah, Azaileya, and Malayziah; and nephews, Jaidence and Jaddox Cottingham, Ryder and Jaxon Montgomery, and Harley Lyon.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Darlene and David Boyce, and his great-grandmother, Goldie Dummitt.
A celebration of life will be at the convenience of the family.
