Noah “Wayne” Cooley, 73, of Tollesboro, passed away Thursday, September 3, 2026, at Southern Ohio Medical Center Hospice, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born July 3, 1953, in Lewis County, a son of the late Roscoe and Myrtle Smith Cooley.
Wayne was a member of Happy Hollow Union Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking Sunday dinners, volunteering at Tollesboro Food Pantry, and spending time with family.
Survivors include his loving wife of 52 years, Phyllis Durham Cooley; two sons, Terry (Marla) Cooley of Pleasureville and Kevin (Sheila) Cooley of Burtonville; one sister, Darlene Sparks of Garrison; one brother, Kenneth (Goldie) Cooley of Vanceburg; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one special cousin, Chase Cooley. Many other family members and friends will sadly miss him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four infant sisters; two infant brothers; one grandson, Brandon Hale; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Albert and Okla Durham; a brother-in-law, Charles Sparks Sr.; and a nephew, Charles Sparks Jr.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at Happy Hollow Union Church, 533 Happy Hollow Road at Tollesboro, with Bro. Bryan Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Happy Hollow Union Church Cemetery.
Friends may visit after 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at the church.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Malone, Kyle Grooms, Zachary Grooms, Terry Moore, Mike Grayson, and Ray Polley.
Honorary pallbearers will be Cletis Cord, Ronnie Hall, Larry Doyle, Chuck Holt, and his Tollesboro Food Pantry family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Happy Hollow Union Church.
