With deep sadness, we announce the unexpected passing of Shirley Ann Morrison Watson, 76, of Columbus, Ohio, who passed away at her home Tuesday, September 1, 2026. She was a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
Shirley’s life was centered around the family she loved so dearly. Although we are heartbroken by her loss, we will forever treasure the memories she gave us, the love she shared, and the special place she will always hold in our lives.
Shirley is survived by her children, James (Kay) Watson and Michele (Greg) Mineer; her beloved grandchildren, Corey (Ashley) Watson, BrieAnna (Katelin) Clay, Kayla (Rob) Merz, and Zachary (Mersadies) Clay; and her cherished great-grandchildren, Kaden, Aubree, Cashis, King, and Harlow.
She is also survived by her brothers, Carl (Karin) Morrison, Don Morrison, and Ralph (and the late Karen) Morrison, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will miss her dearly.
Shirley was preceded in death by her dearly loved husband of 49 years, Earl Watson, who passed away in 2022; her sisters, Barbara Moulton and Della Ake; and her brothers, Robert Morrison, Gilbert “Bud” Morrison, and Paul Morrison.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 12, 2026, at Gaydos Funeral Home, 159 Second Street in Vanceburg. Services will be at 1:00 p.m. with Bro. Kevin Watson officiating.
Interment will follow in Esham Cemetery at Petersville.
Pallbearers will be BrieAnna Clay, Chris Morrison, Rob Merz, Tommy Morrison, Daniel Morrison, and Corey Watson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Zachary Clay, Cashis Clay, and Kaden Clay.
