James Henry Gilliam, 69, of Vanceburg, passed away Saturday evening, January 20, 2018, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington.

He was born August 11, 1948, in Lewis County, a son of the late Richard and Louise Bryant Gilliam.

Henry was a Christian and enjoyed talking to his friends, cooking, listening to gospel music, and spending time with his family, especially with his grandchildren.

Henry is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Terri Patton of Tollesboro, and Trina and Josh Chinn of Vanceburg; six grandchildren, Kayla Patton, Paige Smith, Emily Dyer, Autumn Chinn, Malaki Chinn, and Macy Chinn; one great-grandson, Brandon Smith II; five brothers, Adrian Gilliam of Green Lakes, Wisconsin, Maurice Gilliam, Gordon Gilliam, Rocky Gilliam, and Wayne Gilliam, all of Vanceburg; and three sisters, Alice Smith, Laura Gilliam, and Tammy Cooper, all of Vanceburg. He also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Glenn Ray Gilliam; one brother, Jack Gilliam; and three sisters, Callie Brown, Mary Lou Presley, and Darlene Hackworth.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 25, 2018, at Dickerson Funeral Home in Vanceburg with Bro. Arthur Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Nolen Cemetery at Laurel.

Friends may visit from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 24, 2018, and after 9:00 a.m. Thursday at Dickerson Funeral Home, 110 West Second Street in Vanceburg.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
