Carmie Jean Bentley Lewis, 78, of Laurel Road, Vanceburg, passed away Saturday afternoon, March 3, 2018, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead.

She was born July 12, 1939, in Lawrence County, a daughter of the late Tom Bentley and Martha Triplett Bentley Jones.

Carmie was of the Baptist faith and worked for US Shoe for 24 years. She enjoyed reading, watching movies, watching TV and spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren.

Carmie is survived by two sons, William “Sput” Lewis (Brenda) of Vanceburg,  and John Lewis (Eva) of Middletown, Ohio; two daughters, Marsha Horsley of Laurel and Tammy Stafford (Jack) of Camp Dix; 12 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Tim Lewis; one daughter, Valerie Scott; two grandchildren, Brent Lewis and Willow Pope; five brothers, Charles Jones, Larry Jones, Glen Bentley, Johnny Bentley and JR Young; one sister, Carol McCann; and a son-in-law, Tom Horsley.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 7, 2018, at Dickerson Funeral Home in Vanceburg with Bro. Rick Buckner officiating. Burial will follow in Mosby Cemetery on Straight Fork Road.

Friends may visit from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 6, 2018, and after 9:00 a.m. Wednesday at Dickerson Funeral Home, 110 West Second Street in Vanceburg.

Pallbearers will be Taylor Hampton, Josh Stafford, Nathan Stafford, Timothy Horsley, Tucker Horsley, and Todd Hampton.
