Adrian “Babe” Johnson

Adrian Dale “Babe” Johnson, 77, of Vanceburg, passed away peacefully Wednesday morning, April 17, 2019, at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland surrounded by his loving family.

He was born May 2, 1941, in Lewis County, a son of the late John and Emma Stapleton Johnson.

Adrian proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1959 to 1963, serving most of his time in Germany. He worked for CSX Transportation at the Raceland Car Shops for 34 years and loved spending time with his family and traveling to the beach and mountains. When he wasn’t playing golf with friends, he was doing yard chores.

Adrian is survived by his wife of 51 years, Connie Flannigan Johnson; one son, Tony “TJ” Johnson (Kara) of Vanceburg; one daughter, Andrea Parker (Lyle) of Vanceburg; four grandchildren, Baesha Johnson, Taelyn Johnson, Isaiah Parker and Joshua Parker; one sister, Nancy Edington of Vanceburg; and several nieces and nephews. He also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, John Johnson, Charlie Johnson, Dean Johnson and Jack Johnson; and a sister, Marie Bloomfield.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 23, 2019, at Dickerson Funeral Home in Vanceburg with Bro. Ronnie Hall officiating. Burial will follow in Lewis County Memory Gardens at Black Oak. Full military honors will be accorded by Monte Lewis Stamm VFW Post 5438.

Friends may visit from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday, April 22, 2019, and after 9:00 a.m. Tuesday at Dickerson Funeral Home in Vanceburg.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
