Alden Gay Rigdon, 86, of Vanceburg, passed away Sunday, October 19, 2025, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Alden was born in Lewis County on June 24, 1939, a son of the late Harry and Ruby Elliott Rigdon.
He enjoyed going to auctions, mowing his lawn, farming, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include one daughter, Gaylene Rigdon (Charles) Dawson of Elberton, Georgia; and one son, Joseph Rigdon of Charleston, West Virginia; one sister, Mary Rigdon McClurg of Vanceburg; six grandchildren, Christopher Alden Dawson, Amanda Dawson, Alexandria Gay-Marie Dawson Jones, Joseph Dawson, Marcus Dawson, and Megan Rigdon Meighan; and 15 great-grandchildren. Many other family members and friends will also miss him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 17 years, Linda Sue Sexton Rigdon; one sister, Barbara Rigdon Cropper; two brothers, Jerry Rigdon and Richard Rigdon.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 25, 2025, at Tollesboro Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Bro. Jerry Blevins officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Garden of Memories.
Visitation will be after 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Alden’s family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
