Alfred Cooper, 97, of Vanceburg, passed away Monday, November 10, 2025, at Hospice of Hope at Kenton Pointe in Maysville. His family was at his side.

Alfred was born in Lewis County on April 15, 1928, a son of the late Plez and Eva Young Cooper. He was a lifelong carpenter, a US Army veteran having served during the Korean conflict, and a member of Liberty Grove Christian Church.
Left to cherish Alfred’s memories are a son, Randy Dale Cooper of Vanceburg and several nieces and nephews. Many friends will also mourn his passing.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nellie Pauline Lawhun Cooper in 2006; two sisters, Thelma King and Doris Linville; four brothers, Wilford Cooper, Cecil Cooper, Douglas Cooper, and Gene Cooper; a niece, Genee Applegate; and a nephew, Larry Cooper.
A private graveside service will be in Lewis County Memory Gardens at the convenience of the family.
Pallbearers will be Nelson Burriss, Tony Burriss, Frank Clark, Forest Cooper, and Jerry Blevins.
