Alice Marie Gilliam Smith, 71, of Vanceburg, passed away Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at her home. She was surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Lewis County on November 20, 1951, a daughter of the late James Richard and Louise Bryant Gilliam.
Alice was a member of Southern Manor Baptist Church and loved attending there. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include a son, Jason Smith of Vanceburg; two sisters, Laura Gilliam (Chuck Blevins) and Tammy (Dean) Cooper of Vanceburg; four brothers, Adrian (Judy) Gilliam of Wisconsin, Rocky (Edna) Gilliam, Gordon (Dorothy) Gilliam, and Wayne (Tammy) Gilliam of Vanceburg; one sister-in-law, Pauline Gilliam of Vanceburg; one brother-in-law, Jimmy Presley of Vanceburg; two grandchildren, Damen Smith, Jacob Smith; and two great-grandchildren, Connor Smith and Ryan Smith. Many other family members and friends also survive who will sadly miss her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 48 years, James “Jack” Smith; one son, Jackie Smith; four sisters, Charlene Gilliam, Callie Brown, Mary Presley, and Darelene Hackworth; six brothers, Donnie Gilliam, Jerry Gilliam, Jack Gilliam, Johnny Gilliam, Henry Gilliam, and Maurice Gilliam; and two brothers-in-law, Ervin Brown and Darrell Hackworth.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at Dickerson Funeral Home, 110 West Second Street in Vanceburg, with Bro. Arthur Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Conley Cemetery on Holly Road.
Friends may visit after 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at Dickerson Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Chuck Blevins, Brandon Smith, Tommy Polley, Tommy Polley Jr., Bradley Polley, and Dean Cooper.
