Allen Blevins

Allen F. Blevins, 59, of Garrison, passed away Saturday, August 12, 2023, after an extended illness. His family was at his side.

Allen was born at Garrison on December 12, 1963, a son of the late Thurman Blevins Sr. and Geneva Vance Blevins.  

Allen was a carpenter by trade and a deer hunter by passion. He was of the Christian faith.

Left to cherish Allen’s memories are his wife of 41 years Edna J. Blevens; two daughters, Jennifer (Jonathan) Kirker of Tollesboro and Candice (George) Cooper of Garrison; a son, Christopher Schroeder and his companion Karrie Little of Raceland; two sisters, Julie Blevins and her companion Roger Thoroughman, and Ella Dummitt; a brother, Mike (Stephanie) Blevins; eight grandchildren, Dakota Schroeder, Mason McGlone, Cole McGlone, Brandon Cooper, Matthew Cooper, Ally Schroeder, Kailyn Schroeder, and Christopher Michael Schroeder; and three great-grandchildren, Myla Schroeder, Noah Applegate, and Xavier Schroeder.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Mark Blevins and Thurman “Pokey” Blevins Jr.

Graveside services will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 16, 2023, in Skidmore Cemetery at Garrison with Pastor John Byard officiating.

Family and friends will meet at Noon Wednesday at Gaydos Funeral Home, 159 Second Street in Vanceburg, for the funeral procession to Skidmore Cemetery.
