Barbara S. Hughes, 76, of Vanceburg, passed away Saturday December 23, 2023, at the Hospice of Hope Care Center in Maysville. Her family was by her side.
Barbara was born March 27, 1947, at Black Oak, a daughter of the late Burdick and Catherine Ruark Hughes. She loved working puzzles, and was good at playing jacks. She also loved watching westerns on TV and being with her family.
Survivors include three sisters, Wanda Edington of Black Oak, Kaye Barbour of Maysville, and Brenda Rand of Cincinnati, Ohio; and one brother, Doug (Marianne) Hughes of Vanceburg. She is also survived by several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, as well as many nieces and nephews who will mourn her passing.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Ethel Sullivan and Juanita Johnson; and four brothers, Meredith Hughes, George Hughes, William Burdick Hughes, and Ron Hughes.
Services will be at Noon Thursday, December 28, 2023, at Gaydos Funeral Home, 159 Second Street in Vanceburg, with Bro. Danny Bentley officiating. Burial will follow in the Old Black Oak Cemetery.
