Bernice A. Hackworth Ruark, 92, of Vanceburg, passed away Thursday, September 1, 2022, at Vanceburg Rehabilitation and Care Center.
She was born in Lewis County on June 10, 1930, a daughter of the late David M. and Edna B. Kegley Hackworth.
Bernice was a member of Heselton Baptist Church. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, mowing her grass, and spending time with her family.
Bernice is survived by one son, Darryl L. (Marsha) Ruark of Florence, South Carolina; two daughters, Shirley K. Gibson and Rich Goldman of Amelia, Ohio, and Deborah S. (Stephen) Fannin; six grandchildren, Jonathan Gibson, Joshua Gibson, Kimberly (TJ) Rezzuti, Darren (Megan) Ruark, Clinton (Amanda) Fannin, and Cairee (Dustin) Fannin; and 15 great-grandchildren. Many other family members and friends also survive who will sadly mourn her passing.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Ernest L. Ruark; one grandson, David M. Gibson; one brother, David D. Hackworth; and one sister, Margie Tumlin.
Private services will be conducted at Dickerson Funeral Home in Vanceburg with Bro. Kevin Cornette officiating. Burial will be in Lewis County Memory Gardens at Black Oak.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
