Bessie Howe

Bessie Deatley Howe, 88, of Vanceburg, passed away Saturday, April 2, 2022, at her home. Her loving family was by her side.

She was born in Lewis County on October 18, 1933, a daughter of the late Raymond Howard Deatley and Mary Martha Gill Deatley.

Bessie retired from the Lewis County School System. She was a member of Cottageville and Orangeburg Methodist Church and enjoyed going to church, reading, cooking, baking, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Bessie is survived by two sons, Wayne (Christie) Howe and Brian Howe of Vanceburg; one daughter, Marilyn (Doug) Stanley of Covington; one sister, Emily Howe of Nicholasville; her grandchildren, Julie, Justin, Brandon, Carla, Sarah, and Bobby; and five great-grandchildren, Ethan, Nathan, Toby, Olivia, and Jaxon. A host of other family members and friends also survive who will sadly mourn her passing.

In addition to her parents, Bessie was preceded in death by her loving husband of 40 years, Robert “Bob” Howe; a daughter-in-law, Kathy Howe; three brothers, Leroy Deatley, George Deatley, and James Deatley; and two sisters, Ann Little and Frances Hamilton.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 7, 2022, at Tollesboro Funeral Home and Cremation Services,11918 Ky 587 at Tollesboro, with Bro. Jamie Mitchell and Bro. Garland Hawkins officiating. Burial will follow in Wedonia Cemetery in Mason County.

Friends may visit from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 6, 2022, at Tollesboro Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

Pallbearers will be Brandon Howe, Justin Howe, Ethan Howe, Kelly Denton, Andrew Bishop, and Bobby Stanley.
