Billy Joe Hardeman, 66, of Laurel Road, Vanceburg, passed away Wednesday morning, October 25, 2017, at his home.
He was born January 31, 1951, in Lewis County, a son of Myrtle Hutchinson Hardeman of Vanceburg and the late Charles Hardeman.
Billy was a member of Holly Fork Freewill Baptist Church and worked in construction. He enjoyed gardening, being outdoors, and spending time with family and friends, especially with his grandchildren.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Glendal Hardeman and Bob Hardeman; and one sister, Betty Rucker.
Billy is survived by his wife of 42 years, Wanda Gilliam Hardeman; one son and daughter-in-law, Billy Ray Hardeman and Vicky of Vanceburg; one daughter and son-in-law, Tammy Matthews and Brian of West Virginia; four grandchildren, Dylan Hardeman, Macy Hardeman, Austin Matthews, and Kayla Matthews; six brothers and sisters-in-law, Delbert Hardeman and Doris, Roger Hardeman and Carolyn, all of Vanceburg, Charles Hardeman and Patricia of Monquia, Illinois, Keith Hardeman and Tammy of Morehead, Larry Hardeman and Trish of Carthage, Indiana, and Jack Hardeman and Kay of Maysville; and three sisters and one brother-in-law, Bonnie Nolen of Xenia, Ohio, Shelia Terry and Stan of Ashland, and Dawn Hardeman of Maysville. He also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss him.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 28, 2017, at Globe Family Funeral Chapel at Camp Dix with Bro. Jim Porter and Bro. Monroe Craig officiating. Burial will follow in Smith-Gilliam Cemetery.
Friends may visit from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Friday, October 27, 2017, and after 9:00 a.m. Saturday at Globe Family Funeral Chapel, 7975 Lower Kinney Road at Camp Dix.
Pallbearers will be Dylan Hardeman, Josh Hardeman, Mike Hardeman, Scott Gilliam, Randy Barker, and Ben Horsley. Danny Barker will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
