Billy Simpson, 90, of Vanceburg, passed away Monday evening, January 16, 2017, at Mercy Health in Mount Orab, Ohio.
He was born December 12, 1926, in Lewis County, a son of the late Beckam Wilford and Maggie Hughes Simpson.
Billy was a member of Vanceburg Christian Baptist Church and proudly served his country in the US Navy. He served as vice-president of Lewis County Farm Bureau for 35 years. He enjoyed farming, loafing and spending time with family and friends.
Billy is survived by his wife 68 years, Mildred Polley Simpson; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Mike and Ginny Simpson of Mt. Orab, Ohio, and Eddie Simpson of Georgetown, Ohio; two grandchildren, Michael Simpson (Heather) of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Kristi Simpson of Georgetown, Ohio; and three great-grandsons, Tyler, Brayden, and Lucas. He also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Labe Simpson, Johnny Simpson, and Freddie Simpson; his twin sister, Betty Gillespie; and a daughter-in-law, Susan Simpson.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 20, 2017, at Dickerson Funeral Home in Vanceburg with Bro. Roger Conley and Bro. Jim Benner officiating.
Burial will follow in Lewis County Memory Gardens at Black Oak with full military honors accorded by Monte Lewis Stamm VFW Post 5438.
Friends may visit from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, January 19, 2017, and after 9:00 a.m. Friday at Dickerson Funeral Home, 110 West Second Street in Vanceburg.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
