Bonita “Bonnie” Smith Pierce, 76, of Lexington, formerly of Carter County, passed away Monday, March 29, 2021, at Fountain Circle Nursing Home in Winchester.
She was born September 1, 1944, in Carter County, a daughter of the late Charles and Marie Canafax Smith.
Bonnie was of the Christian faith and was a teacher’s aide at Laurel Elementary School. She enjoyed playing BINGO, spending time with her grandchildren, laughing and having a good time with her family and friends.
Bonnie is survived by one son, Kenny Lee Pierce (Shirley) of Olive Hill; three daughters, Loretta Marie Pierce-Sawdo (Craig) of Shelbyville, Katrina Irene Pierce-Khan of Lexington, and Dana Jo Pierce (Scott) of Richmond; five grandchildren, Kenneth Pierce of Olive Hill, Taylor Pierce of Lexington, Shawn Sellers, Jakob Sellers, and Levi Sellers, all of Richmond; one aunt, Pauline Biggs of Ashland; two brothers-in-law, John Johnson of Alliance, Ohio, and Morton Radford (Teresa) of Modoc, Indiana. She also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Kenyon “Kenny” Leo Pierce, and one sister, Vida Johnson.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 3, 2021, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill with Bro. Ronnie Enix officiating. Burial will follow in Upper Flat Fork Cemetery at Olive Hill.
Friends may visit from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 3, 2021, at Globe Funeral Chapel, 17277 West Highway US 60 at Olive Hill.
Pallbearers will be JD Johnson, Dewayne Johnson, JJ Johnson, Josh Jarvis, Ricky Biggs, and Mike Logan.
