Buddy Lee Johnson

Buddy Lee Johnson, 67, of Tollesboro, peacefully entered Heaven’s gates Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at his home. He was surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Lewis County on March 2, 1957, a son of the late Herbert and Sarah Nichols Johnson.

Buddy proudly served many years as a Corporal in the United States Army and was a member of the 101st Airborne Division, The Screaming Eagles. He had many duty stations, including Germany, Saudi, Panama, and several state-side locations. After his military service, Buddy had a landscaping business and eventually his own garden business. Buddy was passionate about his vegetables and meeting his customers’ needs. He was a people person and loved to laugh and make jokes. He was a jack-of-all-trades and loved spending time in the woods, hunting ginseng, and fishing. Buddy took pride in his family.

Buddy is survived by three daughters, Jasmine Star Johnson of Tollesboro, Jenna Summer Johnson of Morehead, and Jessica Spirit Johnson of Tollesboro; five sons, Jonathan (Dana) Johnson and Joshua Johnson of Johnsonburg, Pennsylvania, Jeremiah Storm (Tracy) Johnson of Grayson, Jason Skylar Johnson of Tollesboro, and Justice Stone Johnson of Morehead; one sister, Faye Johnson of Vanceburg; three brothers, Doug Johnson and Mitch Johnson of Vanceburg, and Ben Johnson of Wallingford; and three grandchildren, Bryce Johnson, Bentley Johnson, and Avery Johnson. Many other family members and friends also survive who will sadly miss him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Joseph Sydney Steel Johnson, and three brothers, Troy Johnson, Glen Johnson, and Herbie Johnson.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at Tollesboro Christian Church with Bro. David Lancaster officiating. Burial will follow in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North East at Grayson.

Friends may visit after 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at Tollesboro Christian Church.
