A burning ban that has been in effect in Lewis County since November 7 has been lifted by Judge Executive Todd Ruckel.
Ruckel said recent rainfall and improved weather conditions led to the decision to lift the ban.
The fall fire hazard season is still underway in Kentucky.
During fire hazard season, it is illegal to burn anything within 150 feet of any woodland or brushland between the daylight hours of 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. The law is intended to prevent forest fires by allowing outdoor burning only after 6:00 p.m. when conditions are less likely to cause a wildfire to spread.
