Carolyn Carroll

Carolyn Ruth Smith Carroll, 84, of Vanceburg, passed away Saturday, January 17, 2026, at Hospice of Hope Care Center in Maysville. She was surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Lewis County on March 24, 1941, a daughter of the late Charles “Buster” and Nina Kilgore Smith.

Carolyn retired from US Shoe and was of the Pentecostal faith. She enjoyed cooking, watching Hallmark movies, working word search puzzles, and going out to eat. She loved being a GG, decorating for Christmas, buying for everyone, and most of all, spending time with her family.

Survivors include a son, Michael (Tracey) Carroll of Lexington; her only granddaughter, Robyn Carroll, of Lexington, who she loved with all of her heart; one sister, Edith (Dave) Kochanek of Farmington Hills, Michigan; a very special sister-in-law, Janice Smith of Black Oak, and many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 35 years, Lonnie Ray Carroll; one sister, Freida Smith; and one brother, Charles “Buddy” Smith.

Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at Dickerson Funeral Home, 110 West Second Street in Vanceburg, with Bro. Jerry Blevins officiating. Burial will follow in Lewis County Memory Gardens at Black Oak.

Friends may visit after 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at Dickerson Funeral Home.
