Charles Phillip Fizer, 71, of Vanceburg, passed away Wednesday, August 18, 2021, at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.
He was born July 30, 1950, in Mason County, a son of the late Charles Nelson Fizer and Wanda Jean McNutt Fizer.
Charles was retired from Ron’s IGA in Tollesboro. He enjoyed watching UK basketball, joking with folks, and spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Kay Ginn Fizer; four sons, Chad Fizer and Josh Fizer of Mount Sterling, Brandon Fizer of Flemingsburg, and Brad (Kendra) Hilterbrandt of Mayslick; one daughter, Melanie (Nick) Groves of Carrollton; one brother, David (Patty) Cobb of Edgewood; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A host of other family members and friends also survive who will sadly mourn his passing.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Mike Fizer, and one sister, Mary Ella “Ellie” McCarty.
Service will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 22, 2021, at Tollesboro Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Bro. John Byard officiating. Burial will follow in McClurg Cemetery at Concord.
Friends may visit from 1:00 p.m. until the service hour Sunday at the Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Chad Fizer, Brandon Fizer, Josh Fizer, Brian Fizer, Jody McCarty, and Dylan Hollar.
Honorary pallbearers will be Nick Groves, Melanie Groves, and Brad Hilterbrandt.
