Charles Homer Williamson, 82, of Vanceburg, passed away Tuesday evening, February 14, 2017, at his home.
He was born December 10, 1934, in Lewis County, a son of the late Willis Roosevelt and Stella McKinney Williamson.
Homer was of the Christian faith and proudly served in the US Army. He enjoyed traveling, spending time with church friends, and working at the sawmill.
Homer is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Charles Williamson and Michelle of Wheelersburg, Ohio; a daughter and son-in-law, Stella Bivens and John of Tollesboro; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and Betty Rowe of Garrison, whom he raised and thought of as his own. He also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian R. Ervin Williamson; six brothers, Noble Williamson, Patrick Williamson, Jack Williamson, Lonnie Williamson, Monroe Williamson, and Bruce Williamson; and one sister, Ruth Lacy.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 18, 2017, at Dickerson Funeral Home in Vanceburg with Bro. Jerry Blevins and Bro. Edward Shoemaker officiating. Burial will follow in Burtonville Cemetery with full military honors accorded by the Monte Lewis Stamm VFW Post 5438 of Vanceburg.
Friends may visit from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, February 17, 2017, and after 9:00 a.m. Saturday at Dickerson Funeral Home, 110 West Second Street in Vanceburg.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
