Charles Marvin Knell, 74, of Vanceburg, passed away Wednesday evening, February 20, 2019, at the VA Hospital in Lexington.
He was born February 21, 1944, in Lewis County, a son of the late Burley Mason and Janie Jefferson Knell.
Charles proudly served his country in the United States Army and was of the Pentecostal faith. He enjoyed fishing, being outdoors, and spending time with his family and friends.
Charles is survived by one son, Christopher Shane Lewis (Sydonna) of Tollesboro; four daughters, Pamela Knell (Tony) of Portsmouth, Ohio, Sheila Lewis (Matt), Rebecca Mowery (Brad Esham) of Vanceburg, and Lisa Hamm (Victor) of Maysville; one brother, Danny Knell (Ethel) of Vanceburg; and two sisters, Betty Glover of Mansfield, Ohio and Virginia Sauley (Tyrone) of Tollesboro. He leaves many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, other family members and friends who will sadly miss him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Charles Trever Lewis; three brothers; five sisters; and the mother of his children, Garnet Flinders Knell.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 23, 2019, at Dickerson Funeral Home in Vanceburg with Bro. Ronnie Hall officiating. Burial will follow in Bald Point Cemetery on Laurel Road with full military honors accorded by the Olive Hill American Legion Post #138.
Friends may visit from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, February 22, 2019, and after 9:00 a.m. Saturday at Dickerson Funeral Home, 110 West Second Street in Vanceburg.
