Chick Lewis

Charles “Chick” Lewis, 86, of Vanceburg, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, October 27, 2024, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland. He was surrounded by his loving family.

Chick was born in Lewis County on January 29, 1938, a son of the late Fred Maxwell and Dolly Gardner Lewis.

Chick was a member of Vanceburg Christian Baptist Church for 45 years, and loved attending church, going to listen to gospel singing groups and being able to fellowship with everyone. He was a member of Labor Union 189 in Lexington for 30 years. He enjoyed farming, going to farm sales, and spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 65 years, Dorothy “Dot” Crawford Lewis, and two sisters, Eleanor Evans and Carolyn Lewis.

Survivors include one daughter, Miranda (Rick) Silvey of Vanceburg; three sons, Chuck (Kelly) Lewis of Vanceburg, Keith (Willia Jean) Lewis of Garrison, and Jack (Vanessa) Lewis of Vanceburg; one sister, Linda Sue Gilbert of Vanceburg; 16 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren. Many other family and friends who will sadly miss him.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 1, 2024, at Dickerson Funeral Home, 110 West Second Street in Vanceburg, with Bro. Curt Cordle, Bro. Roger Conley and Dr. Howard Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in Evans Chapel Cemetery at Vanceburg.

Friends may visit from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, October 31, 2024, and after 9:00 a.m. Friday, November 1, 2024, at Dickerson Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Josh Silvey, Marty Lewis, Matt Lewis, Jared Lewis, Christopher Staggs, and Caleb Staggs.
