Claudie Richmond

Claudie Richmond, 83, of Emerson, passed away peacefully Thursday morning, April 17, 2025, at the Life Care Center in Morehead. 

He was born in Lewis County on August 26, 1941, a son of the late Jack and Arlie Zornes Richmond.

Claudie was an honest, hardworking individual who loved his wife, family, and neighbors very deeply. He worked until retirement age farming and filing saws for the mills in the community. He was a trustworthy neighbor who would help anyone he could. He loved spending time with his family and cookouts on the back porch. He loved to watch and feed the birds and squirrels and any of God’s creatures that found their way to his back yard. His last days were spent praising God and thanking the Lord for all the blessings he had been given in his Life. Claudie will be sadly missed by his family, friends and neighbors.

Claudie is survived by his loving wife of 16 years, Hazlen Richmond; one son and daughter-in-law, Timothy and Darlene Richmond of Vanceburg; two daughters and sons-in-law, Rosetta and Billy “Tubby” Brown of Emerson, and Sherry and Scotty Thoroughman of Tollesboro; one granddaughter, Ashley Dawn; one grandson, Kenneth Eugene; four great-grandchildren, Olivia, Abigail, Angelia and Aurora; one stepdaughter, Marsue Ellis; and numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife of 43 years, Effie Ruth Richmond; four sisters, Cassie, Lillian, Bertie, and Betty; two brothers, Marcus and Ernie; one granddaughter, Amanda Marie; one daughter-in-law, Pansy Sue; two stepchildren, Douglas and Larry Clay; and one step-granddaughter, Becky.

Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday April 19, 2025, at Duvall and Moore Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Olive Hill with Bro. Danny Butler officiating. Burial will follow in Richmond Family Cemetery at Emerson.

Visitation will be after Noon Saturday, April 19, 2025, at Duvall and Moore Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 149 Whitt Street at Olive Hill.

Pallbearers will be Shawn Clay, Michael Flickinger, Eugene Perry, Donnie Perry, Jay Burchett, and Jason Burchett.

Honorary pallbearers will be, Johnny Zornes, Billy “Tubby” Brown, Scotty Thoroughman, David Clay, and Michael Clay.
