Earl Cletis Zornes, 74, of Vanceburg, passed away Saturday evening, September 30, 2017, at his home.
Clete was born September 18, 1943, in Baltimore, Maryland, a son of the late Harry Garland and Thelma Mae Stone Zornes.
He was of the Pentecostal faith and worked as a self-employed logger. He enjoyed logging, fishing, hunting, cooking and spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Louise Renchen Zornes; two sons, Darrell Cletis Zornes (Lea Cooley) and DC Zornes, all of Vanceburg; one daughter, Betty Dyer (Arnold) of Vanceburg; 12 grandchildren, Connie (Jamie) Fields, Slug, Heather (TJ) Barga, MeMe (Jason), Ashley, Tyson, Matthew (Haleigh), Shawn (Ashley), Erica (Danny Cooley), Jessica, Nathan, and Jay (Brandi); 13 great-grandchildren; one brother, Johnny Elwood Zornes of Panama City, Panama; and four sisters, Glenda Gilliam (James), Loretta Lewis, and Cathy Howe (Brian), all of Vanceburg, and Kay Walters of Indiana. He also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Timothy John “Pork” Zornes; four brothers, Donald Jo Zornes, Junior O’Dell Zornes, James Anderson Zornes and Paul David Zornes; and two sisters, Judy Applegate and Evelyn Swim.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 7, 2017, at Dickerson Funeral Home in Vanceburg with Bro. Tony Corns officiating. Burial will follow in Lewis County Memory Gardens at Black Oak.
Friends may visit from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, October 6, 2017, and after 9:00 a.m. Saturday at Dickerson Funeral Home, 110 West Second Street in Vanceburg.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
